Series Background
The Squid Girl (Shinryaku! Ika Musume) is the story of the titular Squid Girl, who plans to invade humanity due to the pollution of the sea she resides in. However, after a failed attempt to take control of a beach house, she is forced to work as a waitress to pay off the damages she has caused. This starts Squid Girl's experience living on the surface world, learning new things and coming across the curious visitors of the beach house.
This started off as manga from the Weekly Shonen Champion magazine that's still ongoing. It spawned an anime series, which was aired from TV Tokyo between October 4, 2012 and December 20, 2012. There are 6 DVD and Blu-Ray volumes released, with a U.S. release for the first season available. The UK DVD release of the Squid Girl Anime happened August 13, 2012; which is the same day of the contest's start!

I have seen this figma from time to time and I have not even engaged myself into the series. But it's a figma! Free figmas are better than nothing! :D
